Mateo y Las Manos Pesadas is a charismatic band led by the singer, artist, and songwriter
Mateo. Based out of Colorado, USA, the five-piece ensemble has taken their music on a
global journey, sharing their unique sound and heartfelt storytelling with audiences
worldwide. Blending traditional songwriting traditions with influences from genres such
as folk, rock, and Americana, the band’s music is enriched by a distinctive Latin American
flavor, which is also characterized by their well-received debut album “48” from 2019.
Mateo’s artistry shines through his captivating storytelling, chronicling a spiritual journey
within his music. His songwriting, usually just crafted on guitar and his soulful voice,
creates an intimate and compelling frame for his lyrics.
Drawing inspiration from musical legends like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, and
Paul Simon, Mateo y Las Manos Pesadas carries a timeless quality while carving out a
sound uniquely their own. The band is well-known for their live performances that fill
concert halls and venues. Whether on stage or record, Mateo y Las Manos Pesadas is a
celebration of storytelling, melody, and the shared human experience. Mateo and the
band are currently finalizing their second studio album, in close collaborations with
esteemed musicians such as Leo Castiblanco, Boston Rex, Diego Cadavid, Max Martínez
and Adam Stern. Under the direction of Venezuelan producer Alfred Gómez Jr., the album
is being recorded and mixed by Eduardo López and mastered by Brian Lucey.
